What is a Philosophy of Christian Ministry?

 

A Philosophy of Christian Ministry is a statement of biblical values that direct the regular functions of a local church regarding how it serves God and others.  This definition is predicated on the understanding that values direct behavior.

 

The philosophy of Christian ministry for Word of Truth Bible Church includes:

The purpose of Word of Truth Bible Church is to glorify God in all we do as we live by faith in His Word (1 Cor. 10:31; Eph. 1:4-12; 3:21).

The mission of Word of Truth Bible Church is:

1. To disciple believers for their advancement to spiritual maturity as they learn and live God’s Word in all aspects of their lives (Matt. 28:19-20; Eph. 4:11-16; Col. 1:28; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; cf. Rom. 6:16-18; 2 Cor. 10:5).
2. To train believers for Christian ministry, so they can effectively love and serve others (Eph. 4:11-16; cf. 1 Cor. 16:15-16; 2 Cor. 9:1-2, 12-14; Rev. 2:19).
3. To aid in the proper function of believers as ambassadors for Jesus Christ, prepared to share the gospel to those for whom He died (2 Cor. 5:18-21; cf. Rom. 5:6-10; 10:15, 17; 1 Cor. 15:3-4).

The values of Word of Truth Bible Church include:

1. Learning the Bible which alone discloses the character and revealed will of God (Deut. 29:29; Heb. 4:12; 2 Tim. 2:15; 3:16-17).
2. Living in obedience to the will of God once it has been learned (Rom. 6:6-18; 12:1-2; 2 Cor. 10:5).
3. Loving God and others as Scripture teaches (Matt. 22:37-39; John 13:34-35; Phil. 2:1-8; 1 Thess. 5:11; 1 John 4:11).

The vision of Word of Truth Bible Church is to create a wholesome environment where believers of all ages can gather together for worship, fellowship, encouragement, and the expositional study of God’s Word on a regular basis so they can learn to live His will and advance spiritually.

The Strategy of Word of Truth Bible Church is to faithfully commit to gather together on a regular basis to learn Scripture and apply it to every area of our lives so that we can touch others with truth (Matt. 7:24; Eph. 4:11-12; 2 Tim. 2:15; 3:16; Heb. 10:23-25; 1 Pet. 2:2; 2 Pet. 3:18).
